Palmerston Road
Maintaining and enhancing the Federation features that give this property its unique character, Mulberry was engaged to restore this single story weatherboard home. Due to the age of the home and the material it is constructed of, the removal of termite-damaged walls and repairs on the floors were a necessary part of the restoration we undertook.
Heritage Features
A major feature incorporated into this residential home by Mulberry was the inclusion of French doors and antique hardware authentic to the period. The renovation required the removal of a sunroom wall to accommodate for the new doors, as well as steps to the doors.
Special Features
Mulberry built pergolas to suit the home but the most significant special feature was the custom-made cubby house. Built in the backyard, the cubby house is a miniature replica of the home.
- Removal of existing cladding boards and old guttering
- Recladded the entire house and inserted thermal insulation to all walls
- Performed main switchboard conversion and electrical work for the pergolas
- Installed new fascia boards and eaves
- Installed new roof strutting and beams into the roof space
- Replaced all roof sheeting, guttering and downpipes
The result was an increase in the value of the home, enhancing the owners’ lifestyle to suit a growing family and a beautiful restoration of the original charm of the architectural period.
